Pointer exists to build a world where no dog or cat suffers
from preventable disease.

Many life-shortening conditions in dogs and cats develop slowly. Caught early, they can often be managed or prevented. Yet most are found only after signs appear, when options are limited. Even the most loving owners miss the early signs.

We want to help people see what love can't.

The problem

Veterinary medicine can be reactive

By the time most animals are seen for a problem, the disease may have been developing for years. The signals were usually there all along, in breed, age, weight, labs, and changes across visits. But no clinician can weigh them all for every patient at every visit.

We create individualized risk profiles for each dog

We learned to recognize disease patterns by studying millions of dogs.
We put that knowledge in the hands of veterinarians and families, so risk is understood and acted on early.

Why dogs

We love them, of course, but also because preventive medicine can be developed and proven in pets faster than in people. Prevention has to be learned from cause and effect across millions of lives, which is nearly impossible in human medicine. Records are fragmented, outcomes take decades, and data cannot move.

Pets remove most of those constraints: Their lives unfold within years, health records usually sit in a single clinic, and families act as soon as a hidden risk is explained.

Because dogs and cats share our homes and many of our diseases, what we learn from them matters beyond veterinary medicine.
